Scholarships:
Due to the wonderful efforts
of the Frontier Nursing Service Foundation, the FSMFN is able to offer
annual scholarships based on fund availability. Below are examples of
scholarships available to our students.
Kitty Ernst Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded annually to a CNEP student who shows
leadership ability as well as academic and clinical excellence. This award
is announced at graduation each year. Announcements regarding award
availability will be made in August of each year.
Mardi Perry
Scholarship
This scholarship is available due to the efforts
of the Boston Committee of the FNS. The award is made annually to a student
committed to offering midwifery services in the New England region.
Betty Lou
Johnson Scholarship
Since 1994, the family of Betty Lou Johnson has
established an annual scholarship in her name. This scholarship is awarded
to an FNP student who returns to school later in life, demonstrates academic
excellence and has a commitment to working in underserved areas. This
scholarship is awarded after the completion of Level I.

Guaranteed Student Loans:
Federal Stafford Loan
The Federal Stafford Loan is a need-based loan with a variable interest
rate. Students eligible for this loan are not responsible for the interest
that accumulates while the student is in school or during the six-month
grace period immediately following the time the student ceases to be
enrolled at the school (whether due to graduation, leave of absence,
withdrawal, or dismissal). The federal government pays the interest on the
student’s loan during periods of enrollment and the grace period. Payments
of loan principle and interest begin six months after the student ceases to
be enrolled at the School.
Federal Unsubsidized
Stafford Loan
The Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan is not a need-based loan and
carries the same interest rate and repayment terms as the Federal Stafford
Loan. Students are responsible for the interest from the day the loan is
disbursed. Although students may request that the interest on the Federal
Unsubsidized Stafford Loan be deferred while attending school and during the
six-month grace period, Frontier School strongly recommends that students
make the interest payments if at all possible. Students will find their
total payments greatly reduced if interest payments are made while in
school. Principal and interest payments on this loan must be made beginning
six months after the student ceases to be enrolled at the School.
