Education Works
by Jennifer McGibbon
In today’s fast paced society, each day brings a new technology or discovery. These changes affect industries, corporations and academia around the world. Students entering technology or science related fields must have access to cutting edge information. They recognize their personal success depends on their choice of post-secondary institution. This is especially true in the pharmaceutical industry, where the advancement of science, research and technology affects this industry on a daily basis. Student comprehension and training is fundamental for both a successful career and for the future of this industry.
Daniel Cajurao understands the importance of this first hand. As a graduate of the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, Daniel is now employed as a Quality Control Analyst at Biovail Corporation in Steinbach, Manitoba. Daniel has come a long way academically to achieve his success. After gaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Daniel knew that continuing his education was a must to further advance his career. Daniel made the decision to enter the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and complete a diploma in Pharmaceutical Research and Development. After graduating one year later, he found his current position and made the move to Manitoba.
Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (TIPT) offers many diploma (both post-secondary and post-graduate) programs in the Pharmaceutical industry as well as Corporate Training programs. In regards to those wishing to pursue a career in the Pharmaceutical realm, TIPT covers all ranges of programs from Quality Control to Research and Development. For companies wishing to invest in corporate training programs, companies can offer their staff training through TIPT Distance Education, training on TIPT premises or having TIPT come to their own facilities.
Daniel attributes his professional success to his time spent studying at the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology for many reasons. TIPT’s wide range of programs covers all areas in this developing industry. This is exactly what drew Daniel to the school. Daniel knew to further his career he needed training from an institution that not only addressed but moved with the needs of this fast growing industry. After his own research on the school and their programs, Daniel knew TIPT did just that.
Other factors that drew Daniel to study at TIPT included the program structure, the instructors and the school’s philosophy. While researching schools, he found TIPT was more thorough than others; they mold students by providing both theory and hands-on experience on state-of-the-art equipment. The curriculum, he learned, is built around the needs of the industry; students are provided with a good foundation and are provided with “real world” experience. Once enrolled, Daniel found the faculty and staff to be very accommodating. They were always there to help him and other students with course related work and to answer more general questions.
After completing his diploma, Daniel felt confident about starting a career in the pharmaceutical industry. When asked about his overall experience while attending the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, Daniel’s reply was simple and to the point: “[it’s] a school to be proud of.”
